CLASSES

Classes are $70per month with casual options available.

A Black Belt is simply a White Belt that never gave up!

Many students quit martial arts due to practical reasons like financial constraints, family commitments, or lockdowns. The common pattern is a gradual reduction in attendance, followed by a break, and then they rarely return. People should reflect on why they started martial arts initially—for self-defense, discipline, fitness, or other benefits—all of which remain unchanged. In today’s world, quitting when it gets tough is too easy. Martial arts demands effort and commitment for results.

It’s a self-fulfilling cycle: infrequent training leads to lack of improvement, which results in losing interest and leaving. Stop and consider your initial motivations. If those goals still matter, re-engage, communicate with your instructor, and create a plan to get back on track. Don’t give up on your goals; set smaller milestones on your way to becoming a black belt. Perseverance is the key to success in martial arts.

Can I really defend myself if I train in Martial Arts?

It’s a fair question to ask, especially if your 5 foot 2 at 55 kilos and someone is 6 foot something and weighing in at 100 kilos plus, that’s making you feel uncomfortable!

The answer is “yes you can”, obviously the bigger your aggressor is the less options you will have; however, you will still have options and that’s the main thing.

The hardest part of defending yourself really is overcoming the nerves that come with the situation, shaky legs, adrenalin pumping, heavy feet, once past those, training and muscle memory kick in.

The longer you train the more strength and skilled you get, the better your attitude, confidence and general demeanour, and thus the more effective you can be at deterring someone who would do you harm. It won’t happen overnight of course, but it will happen!

If you would like to build the confidence and skills to defend yourself or set your children up with the life skills they can use in their future, and live in the Redlands Area, use the tools available on this website to contact me so we can discuss a program that will suit yours or the person in your life who would benefit from being able to handle themselves in an unwanted situation.
